Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of the uncommon hydrated copper sulfate species, Langite from the Edward Mine (Wheal Edward) in Cornwall, England. This piece stands out for the fact that it's a full cabinet sized specimen, which is rare for this material. Upon close inspection (with a loupe or microscope), you'll see that there is a patch of fine quality, prismatic crystals of strong blue colored Langite, along with beautiful micro-crystalline crusts all over the piece. It's not common that you find a micro quality specimen in a cabinet sized display piece, and I put a good amount of value in this one for what it is. Keep in mind that Langite was first discovered in Cornwall, so the historical significance of the piece just adds to the overall impressiveness. From the collection of Richard ("Rich") Kosnar, (1946-2007), the well-known mineral collector and dealer from Colorado. Rich had a broad collecting ranging from world-class specimens to esoteric pieces, and loved classic minerals from Europe. Retail price on this one is $1,500.
