Item Description

A seldom seen Langite specimen from the Tankardstown Mine in Ireland. Langite is a rare copper sulfate species, and some of the best examples come from various copper mines in Ireland. This small cabinet sized piece features a sparkly, micro crystalline crust of rich blue Langite on matrix. The color is truly captivating. A very appealing example of the species. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on mindat.org (in a previous state) at https://www.mindat.org/photo-197457.html
