Laguna agates are generally considered to be the finest Mexican agates and arguably the finest in the world. They are very highly desirable. The pattern and form of the beautiful color-banding on this dramatic, sliced and polished quartz variety chalcedony (trade name Laguna Agate) nodule is striking. The vibrant shades of greens, yellows, reds and lavender are indeed striking! Green is a rarer and desirable color in Lagunas. The nodule is thick enough to cut 4-6 more 4 mm wide slabs, but not quite the width of the front. Old material from the Stoudt Collection.
