Item Description
Laguna agates are generally considered to be the finest Mexican agates and arguably the finest in the world. This outstanding polished matrix slab has striking sculptural form and dense concentric banding with beautiful and rich hues of red, orange, yellow, brown and white. The sculptural contrasting core has a cavity and is partially filled with sparkly drusy chalcedony. The back is distinctively different! The chalcedony core has nearly disappeared and there is an unusual "bubble" at one end of the agate. Classic and exceptional Laguna agate from the Kay Robertson Collection, with no number. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). 62 grams mass.
