Item Description

Laguna Agates are some of the most popular, sought after and eye-catching Agates in the world. Agates are defined as a variety of Chalcedony, which is a variety of cryptocrystalline Quartz. Laguna Agates have some of the most beautiful patterns with wonderful colors and excellent banding. The best of these specimens fetch big price tags in the Agate collecting community, and it's easy to see why. This particular piece has a gorgeous pattern with hues ranging from lavender to caramel to reddish to steel-blue and pink with various shades in between. It's slightly gemmy when backlit, and the center actually fluoresces under UV light. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #2619).
