Item Description
Labradorite, according to entry on mindat.org is classified as an intermediate member of the Albite-Anorthite Series. It's a Plagioclase Feldspar, but it's best known for its beautiful iridescent sheen, which is typically referred to as "labradorescence". The material was first discovered in Labrador, Canada, hence the name. This stone is a good sized "Oval Cabochon" cut gem with broad diamond-shaped facets on the top, and a flat bottom. The stone has a silvery-smoky hue internally, but when it's rotated in the light it shows a vivid blue sheen on the surface, which is one what would expect from any good quality Labradorite.
