Kyanite with Staurolite (ex Al Kidwell Collection)

Kyanite is a not a mineral that most people are typically not used to seeing from the Swiss Alps, but these pieces from are world famous and very hard to find on the market. The Kyanites on this small cabinet display piece measures up to 2.1 cm with a pleasing medium blue color. They are associated with dark reddish-brown prismatic crystals of Staurolite on "Paragonite" mica matrix. If you collect gem crystals or minerals of the Alps, or just minerals from unlikely localities, don't miss out on this one! These came out many years ago, and you rarely seen them on the market now. From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas.
