Kyanite with Almandine (ex Scott Williams specimen)

Item Description

A large an unusually thick, rounded prismatic crystal of dark grey-blue color crystal of Kyanite with dozens of small studded reddish colored crystals of Almandine. There are many spots on the piece where the Garnets have been weathered away, leaving only crystal "casts" behind. A strange and rarely seen specimen from Macedonia. The piece is accompanied by a label from Scott Williams of Oberlin, Kansas and another label that mentions Sotheby's (possibly sold at auction?).
