Item Description
Kyanite is considered to be a rare gem in the sense that there are only a few places in the world that produce thick enough crystals with good enough clarity to produced fine faceted stones. While most people are familiar with blue Kyanite, (sometimes green or colorless), a recently discovered variety of orange Kyanite from Tanzania has given collectors something new and interesting to add to their collections. The orange color is due to small amounts of manganese (Mn3+) in the structure. This particular stone has a fiery orange color, with some slight inclusions clarity and an "Oval Brilliant" cut. The color is about as rich as I have seen for the material. It's similar to a rich Spessartine Garnet, or a strong orange Sapphire. If you collect rare gems, don't miss out on this one, as few of them are available on the market, especially this size. Priced at $1,136.00 retail.
