Item Description
Here we have a lovely three piece rough and cut set of the pink gem variety of Spodumene, Kunzite from Afghanistan. There are only three places in the world where fine quality gems and crystals of Kunzite are found: Brazil, San Diego County, California and Afghanistan. That's it. The scarcity and beauty of the material makes it highly desirable for collectors, especially when you can pick up three examples in one shot like this. First we have the crystal, a good example with sharp defined, striated faces along with gentle surface etching features and a soft pink interior. Next we come to the cabochon, which is a button-like "Oval" cab with internal inclusions of an unknown mineral (possibly Rutile?) in parallel growth to form somewhat of a "cat's eye" effect when it's rotated in the light. The big star of the set has to be the 37.75 carat faceted stone. It is a gorgeous "Modified Brilliant Rectangle" with amazingly lively lavender-pink color and only very very slight inclusions. Altogether we have three wonderful representations of gem Kunzite in this set. Priced at $2900.
