Item Description

A rarely seen MATRIX specimen of Kunzite from the Katerina Mine in Pala, California. We've only seen a handful of these pieces over the years, and they're almost always loose singles with no matrix. This piece features an attractive, GEMMY, rich pinkish-purple colored prismatic crystal of Kunzite wedged between a few sections of dark pink colored Montmorillonite clay. The Kunzite crystal is slightly etched, but it's essentially crystallized on all sides, with no major damage. The piece was hard to photograph, but it's a really good example of the material, and it's a must have for any collector of San Diego County minerals or gem crystals / pegmatite minerals. According to the label, the piece was collected November 14, 1998. Priced at $950 in our inventory.
