Item Description
Kunzite is a varietal name given to pink Spodumene that was named after the noted gemologist and author George F. Kunz who worked for Tiffany and Co. during the early 1900's. This material is well loved for its splendid color, attractiveness, and sometimes rather large stones. Kunzite is not a very easy gemstone to cut due to the perfect cleavage planes and well cut gems are much appreciated due to this characteristic. This gem is a very appealing, large, bright, well cut, very nearly eye clean gem with a "baby pink" color and a standard "Step Square Emerald" cut. The stone also shows wonderful fluorescence under both SW and LW UV light. Kunzite might be well known to most collectors, but there are truly only two major sources in the world that produce gem quality crystals for cutting (Brazil and Afghanistan). This is a VERY good sized gem for what it is, and these stones are becoming harder to find in the market today (especially considering the high prices being asked !). This stone is priced at $5,551.25 retail.
