Kunzite (GEM twin) with Albite ex Obodda collection

There are only three places in the world where fine quality gems and crystals of Kunzite are found: Brazil, San Diego County, California and Afghanistan. That's it. The pink / purple variety of Spodumene was named in 1903 after George Frederick Kunz, the famed American mineralogist and mineral collector. The scarcity and beauty of the material makes it highly desirable for collectors even today. This piece hails from one of the most classic and productive regions in the world to date for gem Spodumene. This very gemmy, lustrous Kunzite crystal has a beautiful light purple internal color, and is nearly WATER-CLEAR in areas, but the MOST exciting part of the piece is the fact that it shows a clear twinning habit that runs the length of the specimen. You can see the reentrant angle on the termination, which I'_'ve highlighted in several photos. This is not unheard of, but rare for this material in my experience. To top it off, the piece has a beautiful group of white bladed Albite (variety: Cleavelandite) running perpendicular to the main crystal. The piece is in great shape, and I honestly couldn'_'t find any damage with a loupe. I will say that the crystal was some difficult to photograph, and looks better in person than the photos might indicate. Priced at $2,500 in the inventory.
