Item Description
Gorgeous and RARE New Find of rich lilac Kunzite from the well-known Alto Ligonha pegmatites of Mozambique. This dramatically sculptural, 360-degree, small cabinet gem floater is very glassy with waxy luster and has both striated and smooth faces. The fascinating shape includes sharp terminations on both ends and faint areas of triphane (green) color, that really add character. Very nearly pristine, with only trivial bruising/contacting to two tips on one end. The C-axis shot really highlights the rich lilac color hue. Orange-pink LW UV fluorescence. Pegmatites here were most active from the late 1920s to early 1970s and produced very fine beryl and tourmaline specimens, among other species. See the 2000 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 31, No. 6. 43 grams mass. Spodumene specimens are very uncommon from here and lilac kunzite spodumene specimens are VERY RARE. A striking and excellent example from the New Find.
