Kunzite (fantasy cut)

Kunzite is a well-known pink/purple variety of Spodumene, but I would like to point out there are really only a few places in the world where it is found with any frequency. For many year years, you could only rely on various deposits in Brazil and limited finds in San Diego County, California to produce any gem quality Kunzites of note. Then a few decades ago, the gem pegmatites in Afghanistan became a great source of this beautiful material. This gorgeous stone has a lovely bright pink hue with very very slight inclusions and excellent custom cutting. The stone has a "Pear" shape, but it also has concave/quantum faceting where there are facets which are cut into the pavilion and girdle of the stone, which gives the gem more life, and a unique appearance. This is a good sized gem, and could easily be the center stone for a piece of jewelry, or would make a great addition to any gem collection. Retail price on this stone is $1,380.75
