The Kunzite crystals from Afghanistan are some of the most remarkable examples of gem quality Spodumene from anywhere in the world. This piece is a lovely, doubly-terminated crystal of beautiful pink Kunzite. Not only is this specimen doubly-terminated, but it's a complete "floater" with no point of attachment. Now it should be pointed out that the crystal is not 100% complete, as it was obviously broken at one point during its formation, but later healed ("re-healed") and re-crystallized over the broken areas. I love the fact that the piece has a pleasing combination of slight striations among the graceful etching patterns, which are highlighted by the above average luster on nearly every side. The crystal has a medium purplish-pink color when viewed on the "a" axis, but because this material is pleochroic, when viewed down the "c" axis, one can see a stronger pink hue. Specimen weight is 165.50 grams. Valued at $750.
