Kunzite (doubly-terminated crystal) (202.59 grams)

Item Description

A classic example of the famous Kunzite crystals from Afghanistan. There are only a few places in the world where good gemmy crystals of Kunzite are found, and arguably the finest ever (in terms of morphology, size, color and sharpness) are those from Kunar and Nuristan. This piece is a beautiful doubly-terminated, crystal of Kunzite which is complete all the way around. While the back of the crystal might look incomplete, it's all crystallized and / or etched (I looked it over with a loupe) which is clearly the result of healing ("re-healing"). The base of the crystal is also recrystallized, and the only damage I can see is a small nick near the top termination. There is a combination of a sot pink and greenish-yellow hues and due to its nature, like most Spodumenes, it shows an intense pink hue when viewed down the "c" axis with good backlighting. Internally, the crystal is gemmy, but not gem quality per se. Elegant, smooth striations can be seen on all the of the prism faces on the front, which is a nice contrast to the graceful etching on the back. This crystal weighs in at a respectable 202.59 grams. Priced at $900 in the inventory.
