Item Description
A large, thick, doubly-terminated, gemmy crystal of Kunzite from Afghanistan. The piece is nearly a "floater", as it's crystallized all the way around, but it does have some very slight imperfections. You can see that each end of the crystal has many small "teeth-like" terminations, and the back is actually recrystallized where it came off the pocket wall. Small Smoky Quartz crystals can be seen on the end of the front face of the specimen. The crystal has a medium purple color when viewed on the "a" axis, but a large percentage of the piece actually has a greenish hue. The piece has long, smooth, very lustrous, striated faces on the front with slightly more etched faces on the sides, and a heavily etched - but still crystallized - appearance on the back. It's a beautiful blending of the two forms. Good crystallized Kunzites are only found in a few places on earth and Afghanistan is only place that produces them with any frequency these days. It's a very hefty piece, weighing in at 1,071 grams (over nearly 2.5 pounds). Priced at $3,000 in the inventory.
