Item Description

Here we have a lovely silvery-purple color gemmy Kunzite crystal from the Kantiwa Pegmatite Field in Afghanistan. This attractive crystal is notably sharp and well-formed with that classic "sword"-shaped termination. If you look closely under good lighting, you'll see when you look down the "c" axis of the prism, it shows an attractive purple hue, with slight pale yellow tone on one side. Additionally, the crystal is technically doubly-terminated, as the base was at one point was broken, but fully re-crystallized ("re-healed"), and you can clearly see little crystal faces when you look at it with a loupe. You rarely see such well-formed doubly-terminated Kunzite crystals from any locality, as they are often heavily etched, so their original crystal form no longer can be seen. The form and gemminess make this piece a great example from this most prolific gem producing region. A very attractive representation of this classic material. It's important to note that good crystallized Kunzites are literally only found in a few places on earth (Brazil, San Diego County and Afghanistan) in any real quantity. The specimen was priced at $950. Specimen weight is 39.20 grams.
