Item Description

Most people are familiar with the pink/purple variety of Spodumene called Kunzite, but it's interesting to think that there are really only a few places in the world where it is found with any frequency. For years, you could only rely on Brazil and limited find in San Diego County, California to produce any gem quality Kunzites of note. Then a few decades ago, the gem pegmatites in Afghanistan became a great source of the material. This beautiful "Pear Brilliant" cut stone has a lovely pinkish-purple hue with very very slight inclusions and excellent cutting. This is a good sized gem, and could easily be the center stone for a piece of jewelry, or would make a great addition to any gem collection.
