Item Description

Kosnarite is a rare Potassium, Zirconium Phosphate and was named after Richard Kosnar in 1994. The type locality for this material is Mt. Mica, Maine, and the crystals at that find barely approached 1 mm in diameter. A few years ago, Luiz Menezes made a discovery of what are the finest crystallized Kosnarite specimens in existence. On this same specimen there are two very rare species: Kosnarite in pseudo-octahedral, creamy crystals with very sharp, bright faces and edges. The Zanazziite, in very small crystals, has a very light greenish blue color and glassy luster on the rough surface. Both sit on blades of white Albite. An attractive, representative specimen.
