Item Description
Kornerupine is a rather rare stone, which is not often seen in rich colors (usually only brown or yellow). This stone is a very attractive, well cut, subdued greenish-yellow color virtually eye clean gem with a "Step Oval" cut The stone is pleochroic, and shows a blue tinge when viewed through the pavilion, and more a straw-yellow color when viewed through the girdle. I have to say that this is one of the better Kornerupines for color and clarity that I've seen in a while. They are not as common as one might think and this gem doesn't get much credit because it usually occurs in such somber colors.
