Item Description

Wow, this is a rare one. How often does one find a specimen of the rare-earth carbonate, Kimuraite-(Y) on the market? This piece is from Japan, although not from the type locality for the species. It was originally found at Kirigo, Hizen-cho, Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, Kyushu Region, Japan and named in 1984 for professor Kenjiro Kimura of Tokyo University. This piece features pale pink Kimuraite-(Y) crystals with white Lokkaite-(Y) according to the label, although, Lokkaite-(Y) is not reported from Niikoba, but is reported from Kirigo, so perhaps this piece could be from Kirigo, but I'm only forced to copy the label information becuase I'm not a Japanese mineral expert, especially on the rarities. This is one of only a handful of pieces of this species that we've seen, and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value.
