Kidwellite with Strengite (rare classic material)

A fantastic display quality specimen of the rare hydrated sodium iron phosphate Kidwellite, from the premier locality for the species. A gorgeous group of bubbly, velvety, soft olive green colored spherical aggregates of Kidwellite cover the display side of this attractive small cabinet specimen. Not only is this a fine quality Kidwellite, but it is highlighted by more than a dozen beautiful translucent purple Strengite groups! If you look on the reverse side of the specimen, you can see underneath the Kidwellite are layers of a reddish-brown minerals (most likely Beraunite and / or Dufrénite) along with black Rockbridgeite. This combination of purple Strengite on Kidwellite is rare from the locality, and notably eye-catching. If you collect phosphates or minerals of Arkansas, do not let this fantastic old timer pass you by. For reference, nothing has come out of this locality for decades as according to mindat.org it was "Restarted from earlier workings in 1956 & closed in 1959. Restarted 1972 and again in 1986 for specimens". Priced in the inventory at $1,450.
