Kidwellite with Rockbridgeite and Strengite - ex Kidwell

This is a representative specimen of a Kidwellite miniature from Al Kidwell's own collection! The piece consists of several relatively large, dark green botryoids at the interior of a partial vug that is rimmed by cross-sections of lustrous, radial fibrous Kidwellite around the periphery. Much of the remainder of the piece is also Kidwellite as a fracture filling in a bit of contrasting white matrix. It's a great example of this rare sodium-iron phosphate hydrate! An old specimen obtained by self-collecting it here only shortly after the species was named from his finds of Arkansas material (from the same location, found in 1985), by our old Texas colleague and friend, Al Kidwell: one of the great field collectors and mineralogists of mid-1900s Texas (1919-2008) and comes with Al's label.
