Kidwellite with Goethite and Rockbridgeite - ex Kidwell

Sculptural specimens of phosphate minerals aren't common and this one has great character! This is a shapely combination piece composed of Kidwellite and Rockbridgeite on Goethite from the Coon Creek Mine in Arkansas. Stalactites with a core of almost amorphous looking, black-brown Goethite are overgrown by filiform sprays and botryoids of dark green-brown Rockbridgeite on the long portion of the piece and dominated by smooth botryoids of dark green Kidwellite on the short side of the specimen for dramatic affect. Rarely do we see these iron phosphates in three-dimensional matrix specimens like this that grabs ones attention like this small cabinet piece. Another great Kidwellite combination piece from the namesake collector's collection, with his label of course! From Albert Kidwell of Houston (1919-2008), after whom the mineral Kidwellite is named.
