Kidwellite, Eleonorite, Dufrenite and Cacoxenite are rare to uncommon phosphates. This very rich, colorful and showy miniature hosts all four species. Gray Dufrenite balls richly line the sculptural 3.2 cm vug. Scattered tiny green Kidwellite crystal clusters are scattered about among the bright wine-red Eleonorite blades. The red blades were originally identified as Beraunite, but later analysis proved this to be Eleonorite, closely related to Beraunite and formed by the oxidation of Beraunite. The enclosing matrix is composed of Eleonorite and contrasting yellow Cacoxenite. This small Mn prospect was discovered in 1983. Ex Don Owens Collection. Don was the Chief Geologist at the old Union Carbide vanadium mine in Arkansas, that operated intermittently from 1941 to 1986 (MINDAT) and we recently obtained his collection. Valued at $500. An outstanding rich combination of rare phosphates from the locale.
