Kidwellite

Item Description

Light green, bubbly kidwellite botryoids richly and attractively cover the blocky small cabinet matrix on this excellent Arkansas specimen. Kidwellite is a rare hydrated phosphate, not named until 1978. There are more phosphates in the matrix. Part of the underlying matrix is Novaculite, a variety of Chert, a dense, hard, fine-grained siliceous rock. This small Mn prospect was discovered in 1983. Ex Don Owens Collection. Don was the Chief Geologist at the old Union Carbide vanadium mine in Arkansas, that operated intermittently from 1941 to 1986 (MINDAT) and we recently obtained his important Arkansas specimens collection. Showy and rich display quality example of the rare phosphate valued at $1500 at time of that purchase.
