Item Description

Khaidarkanite is a very rare copper hydroxyhalide and this showy, colorful and rich thumbnail is from the Type Locality - the Khaidarkan Sb-Hg deposit, Kyrgyzstan. Hemispheres of vibrant rich blue khaidarkanite micro-needles are aesthetically set on the quartz shard, especially the "ball" at the top. A striking, rich and pretty example of this very rare species. Khaidarkanite was named in 1999. Ex. Fersman Museum of Moscow specimen (collected on an expedition by Dmitriy Belakovskii, who sold it to me in the early 2000's). This is a trim from a larger piece.
