Item Description
Kazakhstanite is a rare complex hydrated Fe-Vanadate and Tyuyamunite is a hydrated Ca-Uranyl-Vanadate. A dramatically sculptual, curving long seam, a smaller seam and pods of lustrous, black, Kazakhstanite micro botryoids flank and are enclosed-in a large crust of starkly contrasting yellow to brown, variably-sized, bubbly botryoids of Tyuyaminite. The blocky matrix is chert. The combination is uncommon from this well-known extinct open-pit gold, silver, polymetallic Nevada mine that produced from 1936 to 2004 (MINDAT). The specimen was collected in January, 1993. A rich reference sample of a rare species.
