Item Description

Here we have a beautiful "floater" Carlsbad-twinned Orthoclase crystal that has been pseudomorphed by Kaolinite from Melbur, Cornwall, England. There is a bit of embedded Muscovite (var: Sericite) on the piece as well. The piece is complete all the way around though it's a bit rough or just possibly etched, so it's not as crisp and distinct as some others I've seen. A classic example of what are locally referred to as "pig's eggs". Great old classic material from Cornwall.
From the collection Dr. Robert ("Rob") Bowell, a geochemist and adjunct professor in Geochemistry and Mineralogy at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Rob has a background in applied geology in tropical and deeply weathered terrains, he also has done mining consulting in the fields of due diligence, financial and technical audits, process chemistry, environmental geochemistry, environmental engineering and mineralogy.
