Item Description
There is nothing that quite matches the vivid purple-red hue of kammererite as found in a series of remarkable pockets some 20 years ago, and these crystals show it to its best advantage. The two major crystals (4 mm) are gemmy and lustrous. They are sharp and rest on a matrix coated with a carpet of smaller kammererites. Uncommonly, this very showy piece features a carpet of crystals on both sides. Officially, according to MINDAT, this is now classified officially as a purple variety of clinochlore containing chromium. Most collectors still consider it a valid species in our lexicon, though. Classic example of this find. Ex Howard Belsky Collection.
