Item Description

Kalsilite is a very rare Feldspathoid mineral that gets its name from its chemical composition of potassium (K), aluminum (Al) and silicon (Si). Akermanite is a rare calcium magnesium silicate species, named after the Swedish metallurgist, Anders Richard Åkerman. This piece comes to us from the Vispi Quarry in the Contessa Valley of central Italy. It features tiny "needle"-like crystals of white/colorless Kalsilite associated with dark bronze-brown colored crystals of Akermanite in little vugs of the matrix. We have photographed the piece to better illustrate the quality. If you collect rarities, don't pass this one up, as they are seldom available these days.
