Item Description
A fine Swiss Alpine miniature featuring classic crystals of "Adularia" (a variety of K-Feldspar) with excellent sharp faces, high luster, and textbook crystal form. The cherry on top is that the back side of the specimen features several thin bladed crystals of gemmy pinkish colored Titanite! This particular color of Titanite isn't terribly common from the Alps, and to find them with Adularia like this is a really pleasing combination. The label also mentions that "Penninite" is present, which is actually a reference to Pennine, a pseudo-trigonal variety of Clinochlore. You can see small dark greenish groups of Pennine all around the matrix. The largest Adularia measures 1.4 cm, and the Titanites are about 1-2 mm. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9710). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
