Item Description

A classic example of the famous Adularia crystals from the Swiss Alps. These classic and highly desirable specimens are certainly among the best examples of crystallized Adularia extant. This piece features a few sharp, well-formed, tapered blocky crystals of this variety of K-Feldspar, which have a soft mossy green hue due to a light coating of Clinochlore ("Chlorite"), but the original white color of the Adularia crystals can be seen on the back of the piece. No major damage that I can see, but a few tiny nicks can be seen here and there. If you're a fan of Feldspars, Alpine minerals, twinned minerals or just interesting crystal morphology, do not miss out on this attractive specimen from this classic area in Switzerland. From the collection of Richard ("Dick") Philip Hauck formerly of Bloomfield, New Jersey and now a resident of Franklin, New Jersey. Dick is an avid collector of minerals, books, and mining memorabilia, along with being an accomplished author in the mineral world. Arguably, his greatest claim to fame is being the co-founder of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Ogdensburg, NJ. Dick purchased the land on which the Sterling Hill Mine resides in 1988, and the museum has been running strong since.
