Item Description
A classic example of the famous Adularia twins from the Alps. These classic and highly desirable specimens are the best examples of twinned Adularia extant. Good Adularia twins are typically seen from the Swiss Alps, and are certainly less common from Austria in my experience. This piece is a sharp, very well-formed, twinned group which has a soft mossy green hue due to a light coating of Clinochlore ("Chlorite"), but a small amount of the original white color of the Adularia crystals can be seen on the base of the piece. No major damage that I can see, but a few tiny nicks can be seen here and there. If you're a fan of Feldspars, Alpine minerals, twinned minerals or just interesting mineral morphology, do not miss out on this attractive specimen from this lesser known locality. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
