Item Description

Junitoite is a incredibly rare hydrated calcium zinc silicate only found in two localities in the world. It was named in 1976 after the mineralogist and crystallographer at the University of Chicago, Jun Ito. This piece features white, platy, lustrous, pseudohexagonal (orthorhombic) bladed crystals of Junitoite with minor blue Kinoite on matrix. Ridiculously hard to find on the market, and from what I understand, there were only two discoveries of the species at the Christmas Mine. If you're a species collector, be sure to get this one! This piece comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371
