Item Description

Julgoldite-(Fe2+) is a very rare complex hydrated Ca-Fe silicate and is a member of the Pumpellyite Group. Specimens are uncommon worldwide and are fairly rare from this well-known Connecticut traprock basalt quarry. Clusters of tiny black prismatic blades surround a sculptural 4.3 cm vug filled with glassy calcite rhombs on the blocky basalt matrix. The darker crusts adjacent to the vug are also julgoldite and an isolated crystal cluster is noted. Ex David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named.
