Item Description
A beautifully gemmy and lustrous, vivid cranberry-red tourmaline crystal cluster from the most famous tourmaline discovery of all time at the Jonas Mine in 1978. This amazing gem tourmaline cluster has facinating, mutiple, parallel-growth crystals and is nicely accented with a small rosette of pearlescent lepidolite crystals. AMAZINGLY, this is a pristine, complete all-around floater! The back is contacted, but has no damage, per se. Seldom available, for good reason. Obtained from an old stash. The note on the back of one of the labels indicates that the piece was purchased in November, 1979, before the true Jonas Mine locality was known! A gem Jonas, of any size but with quality, has to be one of the iconic pieces in any collection - there are so few good ones around, and the pocket is so important. A good, sexy rubellite of this size and quality, from any locality is worth $2000. But, from the Jonas --- more, say $3000-3500. 22 grams. A TRUE CLASSIC. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!!
