Item Description
Johachidolite is an ultra-rare borate, found at only three localities worldwide (MINDAT). Specimens from the very obscure North Korea Type Locality are EXTREMELY RARE. The species was found in a contact-metamorphosed zone around a nephelinite dyke intruding limestone; phlogopite bodies in marble. (Johachidolite was named for the Japanese colonial-era name for the locality.) (MINDAT). Tiny orange grains and lamellar masses are richly scattered on the thumbnail quartz matrix with a cluster of pearlescent muscovite plates in one corner. Ex Eugene Cearmichael Collection. Valued at $500
