Item Description
Johachidolite is named after its discovery locality, in the Johachido district, Kenkyohokudo, North Korea. Recently some fine gem material has been coming out of the Mogok area of Burma, and it is the finest in the world for what it is. Gems are rarely over 1 carat, and when they are, typically the stones are filled with inlucions. The majority of these gems are less than 1/4 carat, so this stone is by no means small by Johachidolite standards. With a hardness over 7.5, a vivid color and a high refractive index, Johachidolite is a true gem, and it falls into a unique category of gems that are among the rarest in the world. You don't see many of these on the market in any quantity. This gem is a very soft yellow/white hue. This is older material, and fine quality on a worldwide scale. Even though this stone isn't eye clean, it still has decent translucency for the species, with a pleasing "Oval Cabochon" cut. Considering it's priced at hundreds of dollars per carat retail, somebody is going to walk away with a real bargain of a gem. If you collect rare stones, don't let this one get away, you don't see them very often.
