Item Description
Johachidolite is an incredibly rare calcium aluminum borate species, which was named after the first locality where it was found, the Johachido district, Kenkyohokudo, North Korea. The only other places in the world where the species has been reported is Myanmar. In recent years, some of the best gem material was coming out of the Mogok area of Myanmar. The best of these stones are the finest gems of Johachidolite in the world. Gems are rarely over 1 carat, and when they are, they are typically filled with inclusions. With a hardness over 7.5, a vivid color and a high refractive index, Johachidolite is a true gem, and it falls into a unique category of gems that are among the rarest in the world. This stone is by no means small by Johachidolite standards. You don't see many of these on the market, and this gem has a light golden-orange hue. This is older material, and fine quality on a worldwide scale. Even though this stone isn't eye clean, it's still a remarkably rare example of a material that is rarely seen in today's market. If you collect rare stones, don't let this one get away. We're told that the mining around Mogok has come to a complete standstill, and the marketplace has been abandoned, so it could be some time before any mining resumes, and who knows how long it'll be before stones like this appear on the market again.
