Item Description

Three sets of beautiful and rare Japan-law twin quartz crystals stand out prominently on this impressive and excellent large specimen from a less well-known California locale. The lustrous, well-striated, tabular twins are transparent to translucent and have satiny to frosted faces. The dramatic central twin is 4.3 cm across. The striking water-clear twin at the end is actually a clearly evident double twin! The three twins are pristine. One termination of the large twin is contacted, but there is no damage, per se. The dense jackstraw matrix of quartz points does host some broken crystals and modest periphery wear is noted. This remains a rare and very fine example of the species and locale. These are almost never on the market, as they were mostly collected by Robert Bartsch in the early 1980s, whose collection this piece comes from. Robert passed away in 2014 and here is a link to a fine article written by his friend, Rock Currier: http://www.mindat.org/article.php/2158/Robert+Bartsch+++RIP++1939+to+2014. Valued at $1000-1250.
