Item Description
A spectacular, rare 3.3 x 2.0 cm, closed Japan-law twinned tabular quartz crystal is dramatically set in the middle of the sculptural plate of glassy quartz points to 2.0 cm. The sharp lustrous water-clear twin with beveled termination edges is enhanced by the striking chevron-shaped striations. A clean repair above the base is certainly only a modest detraction to this Montana classic, but it is there upon examination (and could be redone in a modern lab, better). The PC Mine is well-known for both open and closed Japan-law twins, but they were never common. Specimens of this quality came out in the 1980s and 90s, with very few since. A very fine and impressive example of the closed Japan-law twin quartz style on large matrix from the mine. The piece looks great from either side.
