Item Description

Scattered tabular Japan law-twin quartz crystals and a plethora of tabular quartz points cover the large sculptural plate. Rich preferential sprays of small frosted, cream-colored dogtooth calcite crystals add a dramatic and artistic quality to the piece. The quartz crystals are lustrous, translucent with frosted faces. Both the large interior twin and edge twin are 2.5 cm across. This impressive and uncommon large plate is from the well-known skarn-type iron-copper Fengjiashan Mine, famous for excellent hubeite (Type Locality), inesite and calcite specimens. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 18482CL and acquired in 2001 as the first material from this mine was coming to the West (truth be told, we strongly suspect these are from a very nearby, unnamed mine or deposit, and yet were sold as Fengjiashan at the time, due to the proximity).
