Item Description

Several localities in Zacatecas produce outstanding Jamesonite specimens, including this exceptional small cabinet from the Larry Conklin Collection. Splendent metallic-gray clusters of elongated prisms, to 3.3 cm, are very aesthetically set on the sculptural mounded matrix and are nicely complemented by bronzy pyritohedrons. Both the dramatic, well-placed jamesonite cluster in the center and on the lower right are 3.3 cm. Specimens of this great quality came in out in the 1970s to early 1990s from different mines. In recent years there has been a paucity of this great sulfosalt mineral. Zacatecas still ranks among the best for species, because of the thickness and sturdiness of the crystals which normally occur simply as a jumble of acicular needles from other places.
