Jamesonite (fine crystals)

Item Description

Jamesonite is a rare lead iron antimony sulfosalt, typically seen in acicular / "needle"-like crystals, but the specimens from the Sombrerete Mine in Mexico are not only fine quality, but rather THICK for the species. This miniature sized piece features gorgeous, striated, brilliant, dark steel-grey colored prismatic crystals measuring up to 2.6 cm long, associated with muted golden metallic colored Pyrite. I honestly mistook the Jamesonite crystals for Stibnite when I first saw them. The piece is in good condition, though there are some small contacted areas. Overall it's still an impressive example of a rare species from a hard to find locality with much heftier than average crystals. Ex Colin Manlove collection.
