Jamborite (very rare) (ex Matioli Collection)

Item Description

A hard to find example of the very rare of the hydrated nickel cobalt sulfate hydroxide from one of the co-type localities for the species. This mineral was named in 1973 after Canadian mineralogist, John L. Jambor. This piece features a few spots with beautiful bright greenish-yellow "sprays" of Jamborite on Quartz and Calcite matrix. It's best viewed with a microscope or a loupe, but this is often the case for very rare species such as this. If you collect rarities or minerals from the type locality, don't miss out on this one.
