Item Description
Jamborite is a rare mineral associated with millerite, found in quartz geodes in this now inaccessible roadcut site off a major US highway (I know, because I had the honor to dig there with Neal Pfaff and John Medici when I was a teenager). It later got undercut and dangerous, and collecting has long been forbidden. This portion of a quartz geode features delicate sprays of intense iridescent green needle crystals, in sprays to just under 1 cm. It is not millerite, but it also may not be jamborite anymore....it is under "re-evaluation" as a species, and may actually be a coating on millerite as well. You can decipher yourself, the mess of nomenclature among the scientists by reading about it on mindat: https://www.mindat.org/min-2070.html. Anyways, a rare USA find!
