Item Description

A hard to find sliced specimen of Jadeite from the well-known Clear Creek deposits in San Benito County, California. The piece shows a mixture of soft green and almost white / colorless hues swirling inside. The piece is sliced, but not polished, though it still shows good color when backlit. One does not see many of these specimens on the market, and it's certainly desirable for a lot of collectors due to the fact that it's confirmed Jadeite from the United States. The market for US gems is on the rise, and we've seen prices sky-rockets for gems like Rhodochrosite from Colorado, Benitoite from California and certain things like Jadeite are always in demand. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
